God’s Word says, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17, NKJV).
Praying to our Heavenly Father is powerful and we should pray to Him for our needs. We must also thank our Most High God for hearing our prayers and answering them. However, a person must be in right relationship with God in order for Him to hear and answer their prayers.
But your wrongdoings have caused a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. Isaiah 59:2 (NASB)
As a born-again Christian and one of God’s sons or daughters, we have the privilege of coming to Him in prayer through the name and sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, if we are not living in known sin. We must ask God to forgive us in Jesus’ name, repent and stop practicing any known sin if we want the Lord to hear and answer our prayers.
If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you can make the decision today to sincerely ask Jesus to be your Lord in your heart, mind and spirit (renouncing all other gods), and ask God to forgive your sins in Jesus’ name. If you do that, God will forgive you and the salvation that Jesus came to offer will be yours. You must also repent for your sins by changing your behavior to line up with God’s will.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16 (NKJV)
