And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Luke 22:41-42 (NKJV)
Our Most High God knows everything. He knows what will happen in our lives from the beginning to the end. He alone knows what is best for us. When we pray for any situation, whether it is a physical healing, emotional healing, financial need, or other prayer request, we should always pray for the Lord’s will to be done just as Jesus did in the garden (Luke 22) when He knew He was facing a horrific death on the cross. Jesus could have saved Himself from unspeakable pain and trauma, but He made the choice to submit to the Father’s will regardless of the cost to Him. A prayer for the Lord’s will follows.
Father God, I thank You that Jesus died on the cross for me and that I am one of Your children. I know that You love me more than I can imagine and that Your plans for me are for good. I thank You that all things work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. You know the situation I am facing. You also know my will for this difficulty, but I acknowledge that my will may not be Your perfect will in this. So, I am asking You to answer my prayer regarding this issue according to Your will, not mine. I trust You to always do what is best for me. You know the future and You know the consequences of all the possible solutions to this challenge. Therefore, I am submitting to Your will regarding __________________________ and asking You to resolve this for Your glory in the name of Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
